Beaches nearby

The area is full of beaches, each more beautiful than the next, and often deserted – even in the high season.
The closest (1 mile away) is Playa Negra, with pristine white sand (unlike what its name suggests), and neighboring Sandy beach just 100 yards further up.
A little further north (2.5 miles), you will find the beautiful Avellanas beach; to the south, Junquillal… and there are many others!
For more, be sure we’ll share a few little secrets with you… but not on the web 🙂

Wildlife watching

From your patio, you’ll spot monkeys and birds.
This is where your Costa Rican adventure begins, as you enjoy the peaceful surroundings and varied wildlife that often drops in to visit.
The area will let you feel the thrill of adventure without sacrificing your comfort.

Horseback riding

You can saddle up directly at your eco villa before riding along narrow paths, passing through sections of jungle and finally reaching deserted sandy beaches from which you can take in the glorious sunset.
An unforgettable horseback ride (any ability) to discover places that can’t be reached by car.

Surfing

The warm waters of the Pacific make any surf outing a delight. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to ride the waves in the balmy tropical weather….
Beginners can learn in the gentle little waves of Sandy Beach (just 1 m away from Los Nancites eco-villas), while its neighbor (100 yds. away) Playa Negra will satisfy intermediate and experienced surfers alike. Playa Negra was actually one of the shooting locations used for legendary 1994 surf movie “The Endless Summer 2”.
You can discover the sport or improve your skills under the professional guidance of two surf instructors we recommend. One is French, the other Costa Rican – both hold qualifications and can work with you to design the program you need to best enjoy surfing the waves. Performance coaching services are also available if you want to take your surfing to the next level.

Stand Up Paddleboard

Beginner or advanced, why not let us take you on an excursion through the mangroves, around the islands or in the waves, for a unique discovery experience of the coastline and its secrets.
We also offer intensive courses in the waves: “advanced techniques package – SUP wave riding”.
For the more independent-minded traveler, we also have Surfboards and Stand Up Paddleboards available for hire.

Yoga and wellness activities

Here, time has stood still. What better opportunity to take care of yourself with a home massage, Yoga discovery session or more specific courses for those already in the know?
Los Nancites team member Caroline is a qualified sports coach and yoga instructor. She has more than 300 hours of “Yoga Teacher”, “Yoga Hacha” and “Yoga Vinyasa” training. She is also fully trained in Multi-Barre (“Multi-Barre Method”), curated workout anchored in physiotherapy methodology, designed to achieve fast results, while maintaining and recorrecting safe postural alignment. Caroline can tailor a program just for you, geared towards your wellness and relaxation or more active.
This is a great way to round off a day spent discovering, chilling, surfing or paddleboarding. Whatever the circumstances, a yoga session will always be beneficial – and the quiet surroundings are just perfect for it…
Your trip to Costa Rica can also focus on relaxation and a life that follows natural rhythms, with a simple, healthy diet found in many of the restaurants surrounding our eco-villas.

Restaurants

The area will let you live a life of adventure – but no need to sacrifice your taste buds: food options abound and cater to all needs and budgets
In the village of Paraiso or in Los Pargos (less than 1 m away), you will have the choice between typical Costa Rican sodas like La Vida Buena, where you can discover cheap local fare, and more conventional options like the highly-rated French cuisine at Villa Deevena, or Kon-Tiki and its renowned pizzas.
You can also enjoy a drink or meal on the Avellanas beaches at Lola’s, try out Peruvian cuisine at Café Playa Negra, or enjoy sunset cocktails on the beach at Hotel Playa Negra.
There are also grocery stores, a Las Tecas supermarket, and a few quirky boutiques such as La Ventana or Jalapeno, all run by lovers of the area who have settled here to enjoy the more peaceful lifestyle.
